This is something that needed to be said.
Unlike any other sport, there is something about older NBA players who just can’t come to grips with acknowledging that players of today are bigger, faster, stronger, and more skilled than what they were back in their hey day.
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas spoke on that fact during his “No Chill” podcast when he specifically called out basketball legends Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen for declaring that they could ‘stop anybody in today’s game.
“I’m starting to hate everyone in the ’90s that played basketball,” Arenas begins. “They think their shit don’t stink.”
Alongside Lou Williams — Arenas discussed Pippen and Rodman’s claims that they can defend anybody in today’s era of basketball. They brought up the argument about they are undersized by today’s standards.
“6’7, 210, you are a little guard in today’s game. You guys are little guys.”
Lou Williams then cosigned Arenas’ comments. “Every 10 years the game changes,” he explained. “I always have these debates with my friends, I was like ‘can you imagine dropping LeBron in ’75?’ and I was like ‘bro he’d win 15 championships in a row.’” The host then added, “It’s like dropping Superman in Metropolis.”

Arenas also brought up the fact that 90’s players like to bring up how they played defense back then, to which Arenas lashed out and stated how they just hacked people who were better than them.
“You couldn’t stop Jordan so you just clotheslined the m**r. That’s all you did.”
