Doug Edert did not appreciate it, so he ran over and slapped him back. 6-foot-10 forward John Bol Ajak then charged at him, which made Edert run off away from him.
Both players were ejected from the game as a result of the incident.
Syracuse players reacted as if they did not see what their teammate started the entire thing.
In the end, the Bulldogs would get the last laugh with the 73-72 win at JMA Wireless Dome. Edert had 3 points and 1 assist before his ejection. Mintz for Syracuse had 7 points and 1 assist.
