Former Florida State offensive lineman Jauan Williams has been arrested on two counts of battery charges and booked into Leon County Jail after he allegedly struck his girlfriend during his tenure with the team, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
He reportedly got into an argument with a woman over food, according to a probable cause affidavit.
“The first happened that May in an argument over food.
The woman, who is from Tampa, told police that the 6-foot-7, 310-pound Williams flipped her food tray.
When the woman went into Williams’ room, he “proceeded to flip the chair from underneath her and ‘choke’ her,” the affidavit said. He then yelled and spat at her. Williams prevented her from leaving by wrapping his arms around her arms, carrying him into the bedroom and dragging her across the floor.”
The woman reportedly lied to police when they arrived in an effort to protect him, she later told police. According to text messages, she also said she hid weed. The other incident took place the next month when Williams allegedly punched her in the face and “almost knocked her out” when they were ready to smoke at his house.
“In March 2019, she petitioned the court for an injunction for protection against domestic violence, citing the “countless scars” he left on her, damage to her property and verbal harassment. A month later, she withdrew her petition, according to court records. That’s around the time she called police again and said she wanted to move forward.
The woman said she received multiple threats from Williams. “Also, she has messages from suspect Williams’ teammates asking her to cease speaking with school officials/law enforcement because suspect Williams is going to lose his scholarship as a result.”
Over the past two seasons, the former four-star recruit started eight games at offensive tackle and appeared in five others.
Williams entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this year.WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS? FOLLOW US ON GOOGLE NEWS.
