Jose Trimaine Jose, a 6-foot-3 former University of Central Florida player, tragically lost his life on Friday after a shooting in the Miami area.
Detectives state the 28-year-old was shot and killed after a plan to beat up a rival who worked at Kush gastropub went awry, according to a law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation.
Via Miami Herald:
“Jose and a group of friends headed toward Kush because they had some type of beef with the worker.
When the worker emerged from the restaurant to toss out some trash, one of the people in Jose’s group fired at and critically wounded him. Then, the wounded man fired back, striking and killing Jose.”
A massive manhunt was then set out to find Lynwood Walker III. He would flee to another state after the shooting, but would soon be caught and brought back to Miami-Dade County.
Lynwood Walker III was also a friend of deceased and murdered rapper XXXTentacion.
Jose appeared in nine games during his UCF sophomore season in 2011 and eight games during his junior season in 2012 before leaving the team.
