The Buccaneers are set to stick with receiver Antonio Brown, whose three-game suspension for submitting a fake vaccine card to the team ends this week. The decision would seem to contradict a statement from Arians made when the team signed Brown during the 2020 season that essentially said Tampa Bay had the former Pro Bowler on a one strike policy.
It wasn’t that hard of a decision as many thought after what we saw on Sunday Night Football with so many Bucs’ offensive weapons went down with injuries.
“The history has changed since that statement,” Arians said. “A lot of things went on last year that I was very proud of him and I made a decision this was best for our football team.”
When asked about potential criticism, Arians did not give a damn.
“I could give a shit what they think,” he told reporters.
Brown along with Buccaneers safety Mike Edwards and free agent John Franklin were all suspended three games for misrepresenting their vaccination statuses by providing fake vaccination cards.
Keeping Brown will help the Buccaneers’ offense, which failed to score a single point on Sunday and also lost its leading receiver Chris Godwin for the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
