The Buffalo Bills celebrated the official start of the new NFL season by making a couple of huge signings — one on each side of the ball.
The biggest splash is their signing of future Hall of Fame linebacker Von Miller, who is fresh off a Super Bowl run with the Los Angeles Rams. The Bills spared no expense, either, handing the soon-to-be 33-year-old a six-year, $120-million contract, which works out to a whopping $20-million per year average.
The Miller signing fills a huge void in the Bills’ defense, as they’ve been searching for a reliable pass-rusher for some time now. He’s coming off a impressive postseason stretch, during which he recorded four sacks in four games, en route to a Super Bowl title.
And the Bills weren’t done there. They followed up the Miller signing by immediately inking former Buccaneers tight end O.J. Howard to a one-year deal that will pay him anywhere between $3.5- and $5-million.
Coming off a heartbreaking Divisional Round loss to the Chiefs, it looks like the Bills aren’t sitting around licking their wounds anymore. This is a team that’s looking to take the next step. And their sending that message to their players and fans with their two latest offseason signings.
