A report coming from the Chicago Bears training camp is claiming that GM Ryan Poles had to get between wide receiver Chase Claypool and Eddie Jackson during training on Saturday.
According to Bears reporter Zack Pearson, the wide receiver and safety got into a heated altercation after Jackson hit Claypool on a play and forced him out of bounds. Claypool is said to have grabbed Jackson’s helmet as a result, with the latter’s shell getting pulled off completely and thrown to the ground.
“We have a dust up,” Pearson tweeted. “Chase Claypool made a reception over the middle and Eddie Jackson hit him while going out bounds. Some pushing and shoving. Jackson’s helmet went flying.
“Looked like Claypool ripped off Jackson’s helmet.”

While a fight didn’t ensue, it probably would have had Poles not gotten between the players as things are described as having escalated quickly.
The GM had words with both players before they calmed down.
It’s been suggested that such an incident was on its way given the week the Bears just had, with defensive players said to be a lot of talking after taking control of the practice. The notion around camp is that the Bears’ defense has been the better unit since the pads came on, leading to some gloating.
