Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Chris Claybrooks has been charged with domestic assault with injuries and vandalism after an altercation with a woman in Nashville. Claybrooks was arrested Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee, and charged with misdemeanor domestic assault with bodily injury and vandalism.
A mug shot has since been released.
According to the Florida Times-Union, a woman who said she was Claybrooks’ ex-girlfriend told police he took a cell phone out of her hand and threw it on the ground during an argument.
The incident came about after the woman said the two were in an argument in the parking lot of a movie theater after Claybrooks showed up with another woman. The victim who filed the report said that she told the other woman who was with Claybrooks at the theater that she had been with him the previous day and had evidence on her phone to validate that. Upon pulling her phone out, Claybrooks allegedly grabbed it from her hand and threw it to the ground.
The Jaguars released the following statement regarding Claybrooks’ arrest: “The Jaguars are aware of a recent incident in Nashville, Tennessee involving Chris Claybrooks and are currently in the process of gathering information. We will have no further comment at this time.”
Claybrooks, who was released on a $2,500 bond, has a hearing scheduled for May 1.
The 25-year-old was a seventh-round pick by the Jags in the 2020 NFL draft out of Memphis. In his three seasons with the team, Claybrooks has appeared in 46 games and made six starts. His career stats have totaled 81 tackles, five passes defended, one fumble recovery, and no interceptions.
