The Detroit Lions surprisingly moved on from Jamaal Williams and replaced him with David Montgomery this offseason and things are already not starting off well.
Police documents revealed authorities were called to the residence of the Detroit Lions running back and his girlfriend, Tatum Causey, after their neighbors said the couple’s pit bull mix, Lola, attacked them and their own dog.
TMZ Sports reported the incident happened in June and noted court records show Causey pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor count of harboring a vicious dog and is due for a hearing in September.
TMZ shared police body cam footage from the incident:
The owners of the smaller dog said they were bitten during the attack and that their dog required stitches and was diagnosed with two leg fractures.
TMZ later provided more news about Lola.
“As for Lola, Causey shared an emotional tribute post to the dog one month after the biting incident that seemed to indicate the animal had passed away,” TMZ wrote.
Montgomery lives in the Michigan residence following a move to the Lions this off-season. He signed a deal that will pay him $18 million over three years.
Montgomery had 3,609 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns over four seasons with the Bears. He rushed for 800-plus yards in all four of his seasons. Montgomery had 201 carries for 801 yards with five touchdowns while adding 34 catches for 316 yards and a touchdown.
Pairing with D’Andre Swift in Detroit, the Lions will have a new look in the backfield with Montgomery as the lead back,
For the first time in a long time, the Lions are looked at as a team with high expectations.
