Could DeAndre Hopkins be headed back to where it all began?
There was a time when DeAndre Hopkins and Deshaun Watson formed one of the most potent dynamic duos in the NFL. But those days are long gone as Watson has since been traded to the Cleveland Browns while Hopkins was traded to the Cardinals, but has since been released.
Now that Hopkins has hit free agency, is there a scenario where he reunites with his former team?
Hopkins sure has been spending time in Houston lately as he has shown many times over the past few days.
The Houston Texans are coming off a terrible 2022 season, but it got them, CJ Stroud, as their new quarterback. Not to mention, the team is headed into a new era with head coach DeMeco Ryans, who once played for the team. The team has made several shrewd moves, including trading for guard Shaq Mason, and signing former 49er Jimmie Ward to beef up the secondary.
This is not the same Texans team that Hopkins was part of, and that may be a reason as to why he might return back to them.
Hopkins’ most recent record-breaking performance was in 2020. His troubles in the last two years have been missed games, 11 of which were due to injury and six owing to a PED suspension. And he’ll be 31 by the start of the NFL season, which is a concern for possible suitors.
However, his talent is undeniable and every team would love to have him.
