The Dolphins confirmed he had a rib injury, noting the quarterback is questionable to return.
He was just 1-of-4 for 13 yards before suffering the injury.
Tagovailoa went 6-3 as a starter during his rookie campaign. He completed 64.1 percent of his passes for 1,814 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing for 109 yards and three scores.
