That proclamation led to former NFL All-Pro Roddy White claiming that the Bears don’t embrace Black quarterbacks.
“U didn’t need to be there anyway they trash and in my life time I haven’t seen a black qb on there roster. They would’ve never embraced u like Houston.”
Watson “liked” White’s tweet, but hasn’t commented anything further on the situation that has re-ignited a debate that has been raging about the Bears for quite some time now.
To be fair, the Bears have had plenty of Black QB’s on their roster that include Henry Burris, Kordell Stewart, Jeff Blake, Chris Leak, and Jason Campbell.
However, it should also be noted that the franchise last drafted a Black QB in 1977 when they selected Vince Evans in the sixth round.
Evans played from 1977-1983, throwing for 6,172 yards, 31 touchdowns and 53 interceptions.
