The Alabama Crimson Tide and college sports world is hurting this week after news of a relatively young player dying way too soon.
Former Alabama defensive lineman Lorenzo Washington has tragically lost his life at the age of only 34.
Details of his passing have yet to be revealed.
“We lost a real one today. Rest easy brotha,” former Alabama linebacker Eryk Anders wrote on Instagram.
In the 2010 BCS National Championship Game against Texas — Washington had two tackles and one tackle for loss en route to winning a national title.
Washington played in Tuscaloosa from 2007-2009, racking up 69 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and six sacks.
He went undrafted in 2010 as he bounced around on several practice squads from the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, New York Jets and Detroit Lions.
