In his first game for the Jacksonville Jaguars, starting quarterback Nick Foles took a hit that has had him sidelined for weeks. Even though he is still out indefinitely after suffering a broken left clavicle in the first quarter of a 40-26 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, a former GM is calling on another franchise to trade for him.
Michael Lombardi has never been shy about his disdain for Mitch Trubisky at the quarterback situation, and now the former GM is taking his criticism to the next level as he is calling on the Chicago Bears to pull the plug on Trubisky, call Jacksonville, and see what they will take to give them Nick Foles.
“Teams cannot solve a problem if they don’t admit they have one, and pace needs to stop lying to himself and others about his evaluation of Trubisky. The time has come. Pick up the phone, call Jacksonville and see what it might take to bring Nick Foles to Chicago. Foles is currently on injured reserve with a broken collarbone, but rookie Gardner Minshew has played well in his absence, and the Jags might be willing to part with Foles if they can add more assets to their team.”
Foles is definitely more experienced at the position, having played in the Andy Reid-style of offense and different versions of it from 2016 to 2018, not to mention, he won a Super Bowl as a backup in 2017 and won MVP honors in that game.
Only issue here is that the Jags gave Foles a 4-year, $88 million contract during the off-season and they would take a $13 million cap hit if they traded him. The Bears would be able to absorb his current $12 million cap as they are already over $18 million in space.
Basically, the chances of this happening is not even likely on Madden.
