TMZ Sports is reporting that former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf has been arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery in california.
“According to jail records, he was booked for domestic battery — and bail was set at $5,000.
As of now (the time of this post), Leaf is still in custody.”
TMZ is still currently working on getting more details for a man who seemingly turned the corner as a couple of run-ins with the law.
Leaf, who was the #2 overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, took time to reflect last month on his past while revealing that he has now been sober for eight years.
“8 years ago today I woke up on the floor of a prison cell…” Leaf wrote. “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending!! There is Hope!! #soberlife #8yearssober”
He was arrested multiple times for drug possession and burglary.
Nearly 22 years after he placed 3rd in the Heisman Trophy voting, Leaf was inducted into the Washington State Cougars Hall of Fame in September 2019.
