Former NFL quarterback Anthony Wright is counting his blessings this morning after he was found shot multiple times on Monday in Concord, N.C.
Wright is said to be in stable condition, according to a statement made by the Concord Police Department to the Independent Tribune.
The eight-year NFL veteran was said to have gotten into a verbal argument that turned violent and nearly deadly for the former South Carolina product.
“After speaking with witness’s on the scene it was determined that Mr. Wright got into a verbal altercation with his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend,” police told the Tribune. “This altercation began when the ‘Ex’ showed up to drop off his daughter. An argument ensued and shots were fired.”
Emergency services rushed him to surgery and have him in stable condition.
Police are currently on the lookout for Willam “Willie” Moses Hooker Jr., who they have a warrant for on assault with a deadly weapon Inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.
He would retire the following season due to injury.
