On Thursday, Zach Wilson, who was the only remaining unsigned first-round pick from the 2021 NFL Draft, signed a “fully-guaranteed” contract with the New York Jets. The deal is “projected to be worth $35.1 million, including a signing bonus of approximately $22.9 million.”
The very next day, he was out on the field for his first practice and things were not going so well.
Everything started out great when Wilson’s first pass was a 40-yard gain.
After his initial bomb, it only went downhill from there.
Wilson was said to have had a rouh series with 7-on-7 where he completed just 1 of 6 passes.
Wilson rose to the top of the Jets’ draft board after he impressed the front office (and the rest of the country for that matter) during his pro day. The Jets selected Wilson with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
He is projected to the starter, so its best for him to work out his mistakes now before the games start to count.
Wilson will take the field for the first time as New York Jet when the Jets take on the Giants in the preseason. That game kicks off on August 14th.
