NFL broadcaster Joe Buck is a broadcasting icon, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had issues with people over the years.
When he speaks, people listen. One family heard him a lot, especially when it came to Eli Manning playing in the league with the New York Giants. Buck revealed during an interview with Barstool Sports that the Manning family came after him over his criticism of Eli.
“The Manning family thought I was too harsh on him.”
Buck added that he mentioned this while on the ManningCast as he told Eli it was going to be his objective to get Eli to like him before he hung up the Zoom call. He added that they are great friends now.
Buck further told a story of Peyton being interviewed by Costas when he made a reference to him talking about Eli.
“It’s not fun hearing Joe Buck say something about your younger brother.”
Eli Manning wrapped up his career after 16 seasons with a 117-117 record as a starter, having completed 60.3 percent of his passes for 57,023 yards, 366 touchdowns, and 244 interceptions, with a passer rating of 84.1. His best season came in 2011, when he threw for 4,933 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions while averaging a career-high 8.1 yards per attempt.
Manning went on to start 234 of 236 games. He won two Super Bowls in 2008 and in 2012.
Arguments have been and will continue to be made on whether he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, whether first ballot or if he may have to wait a year or two.
