The former landlords of Janoris Jenkins are adamant that he owes them some serious money for loss of value to a Fair Lawn, New Jersey property he rented for two years. The lease ended in May 2018.
During that time period, his brother was accused of aggravated manslaughter for the death of a man in the basement of the home. William Jenkins is accused of killing music producer Roosevelt Rene after the two got in an argument in the basement studio.
A suit has reportedly been filed by S.R. and N.R. Tummalapenta seeking $700,000 in damages for a decrease in 30 percent value of the home.
The Tummalapentas claim the New York Giants cornerback violated the terms of the lease by allowing his brother, who had a lengthy criminal record, to live at the property.
“Mr. Jenkins and the additional, non-occupant tenants and visitors have caused considerable reputational and physical damage to the property, in addition to emotional pain for the Tummalapentas – who one day hoped to pass this home to their children,” attorney Jonathan Swichar said per NorthJersey.com.
It’s safe to say that Jenkins can afford it, having signed a five-year, $62.5 million deal with the New York Giants in 2016.
