Paolo Banchero is already considered a household name to some sports fans as he just might end up being the No. 1 draft pick. He maintained that status all year with a tremendous freshman season for Duke, where he helped lead the program to the Final Four in head coach Mike Krzyzewski’s last season.
Banchero is a lock to be a top-three NBA draft pick in June, but not everyone knows his name or familiar with his face. F1 announcer Martin Brundle thought he was talking to a different star athlete when he interviewed Banchero at the 2022 Miami Grand Prix as he assumed he was speaking with Patrick Mahomes.
Banchero is 6’10 and Mahomes is listed at 6’3.
When the clip got around to Patrick Mahomes, the Super Bowl champ found it hilarious.
Banchero actually used to be a star QB during his high school days, but it is very clear that he chose the right sport.

Banchero was one of the top players in college basketball this season, being named ACC Rookie of the Year and earning second-team All-American honors. Banchero averaged 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists in his freshman season at Duke.
