An NFL insider revealed the New York Jets’ stance on signing quarterback Colin Kaepernick in the wake of Aaron Rodgers’ injury. They made it clear that they would not sign him despite his interest in playing for them.
Earlier this week, a photo of Rodgers holding an American flag surfaced on the internet that was presented with a question: “So would Kaepernick take over this role too?”
Former ESPN anchor Sage Steele, who sued her former employer and then ultimately left the company, decided to give her take on the post.
“Yeah…I’m thinking Colin Kaepernick wouldn’t be interested in doing something like this,” Steele wrote.
Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury Monday night against the Buffalo Bills was a devastating blow to the New York Jets and the NFL. The Jets entered the 2023 season with Super Bowl aspirations and it ended in minutes.
Rodgers’ biggest moment would ultimately be of him running onto the field before the game against the Bills holding the American Flag.
Rodgers suffered the injury on just his fourth play from scrimmage against the Bills on Monday night, forcing backup Zach Wilson to play the majority of the game. Wilson is expected to be the starter until he plays badly enough to lose the job.
Wilson finished the night 14 of 21 for 140 yards with one touchdown and one interception as the Jets pulled off a thrilling 22-16 overtime victory.
Kaepernick played 6 seasons for the 49ers. He had 1,011 completions in 1,692 attempts for 12,271 yards and 72 touchdowns. In Kaepernick’s final season with the 49ers, he recorded 2,241 passing yards and 16 touchdown passes in 12 games.
