Shocking news from the football world this morning, as former New England Patriots star defender Willie McGinest was arrested in Los Angeles.
TMZ reported the arrest, saying McGinest was booked at approximately 7:30am PT. At the moment it is not known exactly what the three-time Super Bowl champion was arrested for, but considering the fact that his bail has been set at $30,000, it must be something pretty serious.
We’ll have more as the story develops.
TMZ has now been informed by law enforcement the McGinest turned himself in. His arrested was in connection with an assault that occurred within the last couple weeks.
***END OF UPDATE***
McGinest was drafted by the New England Patriots in 1994 with the fourth-overall pick. He spent 12 seasons at Foxborough, followed by another three with the Cleveland Browns. In addition to his three Super Bowl rings, McGinest also earned two Pro Bowl nods and was named to the Patriots’ All-1990s, All-2000s, and All-Dynasty Teams.
This isn’t McGinest’s first run-in with the law. Back in 1990, when he was still a student at USC, McGinest and two of his teammates were charged with battery and false imprisonment. A 23-year-old summer school counselor at USC accused the trio of dragging her into a dorm room and sexually assaulting her. McGinest and his two teammates denied the allegations and were eventually acquitted of all charges.
McGinest finished his NFL career with 582 tackles, 86 sacks, 16 forced fumbles and five interceptions.WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS? FOLLOW US ON GOOGLE NEWS.
