The United States men’s national team is set to begin its 2022 World Cup on Monday as they take on Wales in the first game of their group play stage.
Soccer reporter Grant Wahl, who’s covering the World Cup from Qatar, informed fans that he was not allowed inside the stadium because of what he had on his shirt.
“Just now: Security guard refusing to let me into the stadium for USA-Wales,” Wahl wrote.
Below you will see that he has a soccer shirt with a rainbow theme.
“You have to change your shirt. It’s not allowed,” the security guard reportedly said.
Qatar being the host country for the 2022 Men’s World Cup has been a complete headache, but this was known well beforehand on how strict they would be about certain things.
It’s best to not tow the line and upset the wrong people because you could find yourself locked up abroad.
