When athletes struggle in their chosen sports, it’s usually the normal things we could guess on, but this next excuse is way out of left field.
Nick Kyrgios, the young Australian tennis player, can’t quite hit a tennis ball the same if he isn’t hitting something while not playing the sport.
Kyrgios admitted on his podcast that not being able to train with his real-life partner(s) off the court led to a decline in his performance on the court.
“With my first girlfriend, I was away from her for six months at a time,” Kyrgios said on the No Boundaries podcast.
“When you’re trying to perform at the highest level, you start missing someone like emotionally, physically and it becomes a sexual frustration.”
Kyrgios wasn’t shy in admitting that he may be suffering from Blue Balls.
“I’m on court and I can’t play because I’m a bit horny, if you know what I mean.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re in an office job … If you’re not seeing your significant other, it affects you, your work, your mood, everything.
“I was the moodiest motherf* when I was away from my missus for that long.”
According to the New York Post, the peak of the 26-year-old Australian’s career was in the top-15 ranked players worldwide in 2016. That may have been a year where he was letting his sexual frustration out at an incredible level.
Kyrgios has yet to reclaim a spot back with the top-tiered tennis players in the world in recent years.
Back in October, it was reported that Nick Kyrgios and his on-again-off-again girlfriend Chiara Passari might be off for good after an incident involving police. Passari accused Kyrgios of cheating on her. She shared a photo to Instagram that appeared to show him in bed with a “naked girl.”
Passari captioned the photo, “That girl naked in bed with him isn’t me by the way. Hope that clears it up.”
