Riquna Williams is in some huge trouble after she was arrested for alleged domestic violence against her spouse and ordered to be released from custody on Wednesday, according to a report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
She was arrested with nine charges filed against her, including three felony counts of strangulation, one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, and one felony count of coercion. She was also charged with four misdemeanor counts of domestic battery.
Following her appearance on Wednesday, she was reportedly placed on alcohol monitoring and mandated mental health counseling as part of the order for her release.
“The court does have concerns regarding the extremely violent nature of the allegations in this case, that they were alleged to have occurred over an extended period of time,” Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Rebecca Saxe said Wednesday, according to the Review-Journal.
The Las Vegas Aces guard has been barred from team activities, according to a statement from the team:
The 33-year-old joined the Aces in 2021 and has not played this season due to a lower back injury.
This is hardly her first brush with the law as she was suspended 10 games while playing for the Los Angeles Sparks for a separate case of alleged domestic violence back in 2019. She pleaded not guilty to two felony assault and weapons charges related to that case.
Her next court date is set for Aug. 2nd.
