The much-heralded New York Jets debut of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers ended with an injury. Aaron Rodgers was ruled out of the rest of the game but X-rays were negative on his ankle that he injured on Monday Night Football.
If there was hope that he might be out for a short time, a replay of his injury ended it all.
Different angles show the exact moment where you could see his Achilles explode in the midst of him being sacked by the Buffalo Bills defender.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Leonard Floyd sacked Rodgers on New York’s first series, and the ex-Green Bay Packers signal caller struggled to get off the turf at MetLife Stadium. It was the first and possibly last time New York Jets fans would get to cheer for Rodgers on their field.
He was replaced by former Jets starter Zach Wilson and carted off the field. X-rays showed there was no break, but the Jets announced he would not play the rest of the game, which New York went on to win in overtime, 22-16.
Following the thrilling comeback victory, New York coach Robert Saleh said the team fears Rodgers might have suffered a devastating Achilles tear, which would sideline him for the season. At his current age, this might end his time in the league.
