FanDuel is making the wrong decision that will undoubtedly affect their bottom line later.
New York Jets fans didn’t get long to savor Aaron Rodgers’ team debut as the crazed fan base at MetLife Stadium got quiet once the star quarterback exited his opening drive with an ankle injury. Rodgers got sacked on his fourth play.
Buffalo Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd sacked Rodgers who then fell to the ground. NFL Media’s Mike Garofolo said that Rodgers walked to the X-ray room with a walking boot on and X-rays were negative on his ankle.
In the wake of Rodgers going, many sportsbooks are sure to do right by their customers and refund bets that people had on the quarterback because he only played for four minutes officially as a quarterback.
FanDuel made it clear they were not refunding anything.
That is bad business.
Jets fans have waited years for a quarterback upgrade and months for Rodgers to take the field. He did not even last four minutes before that dream turned into a nightmare.
An extended absence would be a brutal blow for the Jets, who hoped the future Hall of Famer would yield their first playoff appearance since 2010.
Zach Wilson, who was not expected to take the field much, now has a chance to show what he’s got.
