The Cleveland Browns-Odell Beckham Jr. saga is finally over after the franchise parted ways with him on Friday, which happened to fall on his birthday.
“The Saints did indeed talk to the Browns about a possible trade, and multiple sources believe that the Saints will try to sign him if/when he becomes available,” Florio stated. “Other teams to watch, we’re told, are the 49ers and the Seahawks.”
The 49ers have plenty of talented wideouts in Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and Mohamed Sanu, but adding Odell Beckham Jr. would not hurt at all. The Seahawks are another team that are hoping to make a late run towards the playoffs and adding OBJ would make QB Russell Wilson happy when he returns back from injury.
Skip Bayless brought up the Raiders after the obvious huge news of the week of Henry Ruggs being released and likely headed for prison after a druken DUI.
The tipping point of Odell’s career in Cleveland came when Beckham’s father Odell Beckham Sr. posted an Instagram video Tuesday showing plays where Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield failed to find the 28-year-old when he was open. Mayfield admitted that the video caught him off guard.
“I’ve had conversations with his dad before, man-to-man, face-to-face, and I was pretty surprised by the video and the intentions and the feelings behind it,” Mayfield told reporters. “I would be lying if I said otherwise.”
Odell Beckham Jr’s Browns career:
13.9 yards per catch
7 TD catches
3.9 catches per game
54.7 yards per game
In 2021, Beckham has appeared in six games for the Browns and caught 17 of 34 targets for 232 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
