The controversial ending in Super Bowl 57 led to a lot of calls from fans that the NFL is scripted. Six days later, fans are doing the same for the XFL.
The 2023 XFL season opened on Saturday. The first game saw the Arlington Renegades come back to defeat the Vegas Vipers 22-20 after trailing 14-3 at halftime.
Trailing by eight in the final seconds, Cinque Sweeting of Vegas caught a touchdown pass to keep the visitors in the game. But Vegas’ ensuing two-point conversion attempt was no good, and the Renegades held on for a close win.
And so came the “XFL is rigged” tweets…
The XFL relaunched in 2020 following a 19-year absence. The season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and league founder Vince McMahon was preparing to put it up for sale at an auction.
But WWE legend-turned-actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and business partner Dany Garcia teamed up with RedBird Capital Partners founder Gerry Cardinale to purchase the league before it went to auction.
The XFL consists of eight teams and will have a 10-week regular season league, with the postseason beginning on Apr. 29-30.WANT MORE FROM TOTALPROSPORTS? FOLLOW US ON GOOGLE NEWS.
